frequently asked questions

If you’re thinking about counselling, you may have some questions.
Here are some of the things people often wonder before getting started.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s okay. You don’t need to prepare anything or have the right words. We can begin wherever you are and explore what feels important to you.
Will I have to talk about my childhood?
Not unless you feel it is helpful. Counselling is guided by you, and we will explore whatever feels relevant and comfortable for you.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone’s journey is different. Some people find a shorter period of counselling helpful, while others choose longer-term support. We can regularly review what feels right for you.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe space. I will explain the limits of confidentiality when we begin working together.
Can counselling help if I don’t have a diagnosis?
Absolutely. You do not need a diagnosis to seek counselling. Many people come because they are struggling, feeling stuck, going through changes, or wanting to understand themselves better.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and see how it feels to work together. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss.

My counselling journey

Life does not always follow the path we imagine, and like many people, I have experienced times when I needed support, understanding, and space to reflect. For many years, I worked as a hairdresser. During that time, I discovered that what I valued most was not only the work itself, but the connections I built with people. I have always been someone who listens, cares, and appreciates the importance of feeling truly heard. My own experience of counselling had a profound impact on me. Having the opportunity to talk openly, explore my thoughts and feelings, and be met with compassion and without judgement showed me just how powerful the counselling relationship can be. That experience inspired me to make a significant change in my own life and retrain as an integrative counsellor. It was a challenging journey, but one that has been incredibly rewarding.I understand that asking for help can feel daunting. Opening up to someone new takes courage, and I want to provide a safe, warm, and welcoming space where you can be yourself and explore whatever has brought you here. As an integrative counsellor, I believe that every person has their own story, experiences, and strengths. I work collaboratively with you, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to support you in a way that feels right for you.I am passionate about supporting adults through life’s challenges.I feel privileged to be part of someone’s journey and to offer the kind of space where people can feel understood, accepted, and supported. If you are considering counselling, I would be very happy to hear from you.
